Another Annual Updateby Jonathan Crowe | Thursday, April 21, 2005
I seem to be updating this page only once a year. This time it was predicated by my hosting provider disabling a PHP function that powered the news feed on this page and the sudden disappearance of the Ontario Turtle and Tortoise Society and Herp Journal sections from this site. Stewart must have pulled them; I’ve e-mailed him to ask what’s up but have heard no reply. So I had a reason to refresh this front page: removing broken functions and dead links. That’s now done, and I’ve simplified the design as well.
I may take the initiative and start up a successor to Herp Journal, if there’s interest in such a project. Let me know if you’re interested. I’ve also been meaning—for some time—to have a guide to Ontario’s species on this site; it hasn’t come to fruition because I’m busy with a zillion other things—contact me if you’d like to lend a hand on that one. I’m also interested in hosting other non-profit herping pages.
The remaining pages—the Pelee Island and herp laws pages—could stand a refresh too.
Finally, off-site but related, I just finished the redesign of the Sciensational Sssnakes!! site, adding a blog, a FAQ, and a lot of new photos and other content. Check it out, why don’t you, while you’re waiting for me to get around to this site again.
